Single Pilot Multi Engine Instrument Rating
Course Description
The Single Pilot Multi Engine Instrument Rating course comprises extensive Ground School
package complemented by an instrument flying course in an FNPT II AS350/355 FLIGHT
Simulator and an IFR AS355.
Course Detail
Ground School lessons are immediately followed by flying the subject matter in the simulator. This technique progressively builds the student's knowledge and skill base, enabling them to achieve the complex procedures required to gain a Single Pilot Instrument Rating.Subjects studied in the Ground School include:
ILS Procedures
ADF/NDB theory and procedures
Holding Patterns
Hold joining procedures
UK CAA IFR regulations
Wind / Time / Drift calculations
UK IFR R/T procedures
UK Airspace Classifications
ATC Procedures
Course Duration
The course is undertaken over a 7 week period, including a separate Type Rating
(see separate Course Information) if required, but students must be prepared for
additional training and extra time on the course to accommodate weather or other
operational delays.
Qualification
JAR Single Pilot Multi Engine Instrument Rating
AS355 Type Rating
- 8 hours plus test for initial Twin Rating
- 3 hours plus test for additional twin rating
